Fr Mark was born and raised in Liverpool. Ordained a Catholic Priest in 1996 and served in a number of parishes, hospitals, high school chaplaincies and also lectured in theology at Liverpool Hope University. He was appointed as Parish Priest in Litherland in September 2016. He was appointed as a Canon of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Holy Sepulchre of our Lord Jesus Christ in October 2019.

For the last twenty years Fr Mark has been heavily involved in supporting the Christian communities in the Holy Land. He works very closely with the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and was made a Knight Commander of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. A member of the International Affairs Department of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England & Wales and is currently the Coordinator to the Holy See’s International Bishops Holy Land Co- ordination Group. He is often asked to speak about the current issues affecting the Middle East and his experience in working with the Christian communities and refugees living in the Holy Land.

Fr Mark celebrated the 25th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood on 13th July 2021. Archbishop Malcolm McMahon said Canon Mark is ‘a dedicated and committed priest who has shown fantastic resolve and enthusiasm to all those aspects of our Church with which he has been involved, particularly in the Holy Land’ and congratulated Canon Mark on his Silver Jubilee
